Victoria has the perfect climate to enjoy a hot tub year-round. At Capital Iron, we’re the hot tub experts and can help you find the perfect one to meet your needs. But before you take out your credit card, here are some important factors you need to consider when buying a hot tub.
Measure where in your yard or patio you’re going to place your hot tub. No sense looking at the huge models if they won’t fit into your space. Will you want it installed in-ground or in-patio? Or are you looking for one which sits on top of the ground?
You’ll also need to take into consideration how many people you’ll have in the hot tub on a regular basis. If you’re a family of six or you plan on having hot tub parties, then you’ll need a good number of seats. If it’s more for you to enjoy on occasion with a friend or two, a smaller model should do.
You’ll also need to keep water capacity in mind in your search. This means how much water it takes to fill the tub. This can make a noticeable difference in cost as well as the time and effort it takes to drain and refill.
Jets and Pumps
More is not necessarily better when it comes to the amount of jets in a hot tub. After all, there’s only so much electrical power a tub can draw. You’ll want to concentrate more on the placement and position of the jets within the tub. Are they there to make bubbles or soothe your aching joints? Will you need back and shoulder jets, leg jets, or a combination of both?
If you’re looking for a lot of power, you’ll want to make sure you have a good quality pump. Pump pressure can vary greatly, and that’s what makes a difference in how much power the jets give out.
It’s called a HOT tub for a reason, so having the right heater is important. Heaters determine how long the tub takes to heat up and stay at the temperature you want.
Don’t ignore this step! Letting your tub get slimy and gross is not only unhealthy for you but for the tub, too. It can take a very long time to clean out the tub, and often, it can impede the pump, jets, and other parts. This may require you to buy replacement parts.
There are a few different ways to keep your hot tub clean. These include filters, purification added to the water (typically chlorine, bromine tablets, and granules), or ozone or UV-C light purification system.
